"Holy Ghost"

some holy ghost
keeps me hanging on
hanging on
some holy ghost
keeps me hanging on
hanging on

I feel the hands
but I don't see anyone
anyone
I feel the hands
but I don't see anyone
it's there and gone

feeds my passion for transcendence
turns my water into wine
makes me wish I was empty

now I don't know much
but I can tell when something's wrong
and something's wrong
but some holy ghost
keeps me ...

In my garden

"I sit in my garden,
gazing upon a beauty that cannot gaze upon itself.
And I find sufficient purpose for my day."

Change

"Yesterday, I was clever,
so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise,
so I am changing myself."

Escape

When we get out of the glass bottles of our ego,
and when we escape like squirrels turning in the
cages of our personality
and get into the forests again,
we shall shiver with cold and fright
but things will happen to us
so that we don't know ourselves.
Cool, unlying life will rush in,
and passion will make our bodies taut with power,
we shall stamp our feet with new power
and old things will fall down,
we shall laugh, and institutions will curl up like
burnt paper.

–D. H. Lawrence

Speaking

If I try to say anything about this,
consider that it is everything
speaking simultaneously
to everything.
There is no fixed center to such saying,
nor any boundary to the hearing,
so in both saying and hearing
may all be nourished,
satisfied, happy!
The divine language of loving kindness
is our heart connection to Source, yet
who among us can be still enough
to hear just one true word?
Earth speaks in new grass,
shifting sand, wind in tall pines,
snowy paths to nowhere.
Fire speaks in crackling flame,
night ablaze, comforting warmth,
crumbling ash.
Water speaks in leaf drip,
ocean wave, melting snow,
the quenching of thirst.
Sky speaks in lightning flash,
hazy moon, white billowing
clouds on a canvas of blue.
All speak to me
as if it were my own speech,
while I remain the silent witness.
I listen, I hear, I laugh in my sleep,
though once in a while I just weep,
Yes — at the suchness of all,
I just weep.
